Global Search

ConceptChoir's Global Search shares the same capabilities with Global Search, but with a greater searching scope than Global Search.

To perform global search, click the Global Search button from the Vocabulary Explorer Tool Bar (Figure 1) to open the Global Search Window (Figure 2).

ConceptChoir's Global Search provides three different searching methods: Concept ID Search, Keyword Search, and Concept Relationship Search. Users can select to perform any of the provided searching method by operation the corresponding searching section of the Global Search window.

Concept ID Search

Concept ID Search enables users to search concept by its ID. To perform Concept ID Search, user can simply input the searching Concept ID in the Concept ID text field and then click Search button to perform Concept ID Search. 

Keyword Search

Keyword Search enables users to search concepts with keyword. As Figure 2 Keyword Search portion suggested, users can setup many searching parameters to better the relevancy of the returning results. User can input keywords into the Term field, Scope Note field, or both. Also user can set the parameters of the keyword inputs. For Term and Scope Note keyword, the parameters supported are "Must have", "Or have", and "Not have". For Broader Concept, however, the parameters supported are "Must have" and "Not have". To avoid input errors when providing Broader Concept keyword, ConceptChoir provide a mini browser for user to select desired concept rather than input its label manually. To open mini browser, simply click button to open the mini browser to make a selection. Users can also set the searching language by selecting from the Language dropdown menu.

After setting up all search parameters, click the Search button to perform Keyword Search.

Concept Relationship Search

Concept Relationship Search enables users to search concepts with various relationships defined. User can select from the following three relationship to search concepts: with Non-preferred Term relationship, with RT relationship, or with Note relationship. User would also need to specify the searching scope for the search by selecting from the Search in dropdown menus. After setting up the parameters, click the Search button perform Concept Relationship Search.


When a user perform any of the three searching methods ConceptChoir Global Search provided, ConceptChoir will first validate the user inputs and then perform search by the submitted parameters. Once the search operation is completed, ConceptChoir will list all the list of matching concepts in the bottom portion of Global Search window. Above Figure 2 shows the results of performing a RT relationship global search. Click a concept form the result list will close the Global Search window and jump to chosen concept's hierarchy presentation.
