WebChoir’s
Enterprise Vocabulary Server consists of four
component products:
ConceptChoir,
ViewChoir,
LinkChoir, and
SeekChoir. Each product is a robust, modular and
scalable application that can operate standalone or as part
of the integrated WebChoir total information solution.
Together, they provide a three-tier platform for the
development and use of complex controlled vocabularies, and
form a basic framework for integration with additional
applications and multiple information resources. The
illustration below shows the three-tier approach of
WebChoir’s Enterprise Vocabulary Server.
(1)
At the
top, Build new vocabularies or import pre-existing
vocabularies using the fully web-compliant and multilingual
facilities of ConceptChoir.
(2)
With
ViewChoir, the middle tier supports end users in browsing
and utilizing concepts or terms created by ConceptChoir and
suggesting additional concepts or terms for expansion
of thesauri, classifications, or controlled vocabularies.
LinkChoir supports the association of controlled vocabulary
concepts or terms with external applications adding to those
applications controlled vocabularies and the capabilities of
a fully-featured search engine.
(3)
For the third tier, SeekChoir adds the fully
developed functionalities of a comprehensive set of search
and retrieval tools for resources indexed by controlled
vocabularies as well as exploitation of controlled
vocabulary resources for enhanced searching of resources not
indexed by controlled vocabularies. |
